The Role
We’re looking for coaches who inspire people, command a room and create exceptional moments every day.
The right coach is passionate about fitness, dependable, coachable and hungry to grow. You should be excited to build relationships with members, develop as a professional and make Orangetheory a consistent priority in your weekly schedule.
We’ll provide the programming, members, education and opportunities to grow. You bring the energy, preparation and ability to connect.
OTF Coaches lead scientifically designed workouts for up to 45 members while simultaneously managing timing, coaching technique, providing options and motivating individuals of all fitness levels.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, inspire and motivate members through Orangetheory’s pre-designed workouts
- Demonstrate exercises and coach proper form, technique, tempo and range of motion
- Provide appropriate options for different fitness levels and individual limitations
- Help members identify, track and achieve their fitness goals
- Create an inclusive, energetic and community-driven class environment
- Understand and communicate the science behind Orangetheory’s heart-rate-based interval training
- Monitor member safety and correct improper movement when necessary
- Maintain excellent class flow, timing and organization
- Consistently engage with members before, during and after class
- Participate in member outreach, goal-setting conversations and other required studio initiatives
- Attend required coach meetings, trainings and select studio or franchise events
- Maintain Orangetheory uniform and professional appearance standards
- Complete required administrative responsibilities associated with the coaching role
Schedule & Commitment
We are looking for coaches who can make Orangetheory a consistent part of their weekly schedule.
Coaches typically teach approximately 6–20 classes per week, depending on availability, performance and studio needs.
Candidates should have availability to coach a minimum of two days per week and be open to additional coaching opportunities as they become available.
Opportunities may also exist to coach at multiple Orangetheory locations within our network.
Requirements
- Current fitness certification from an Orangetheory-approved organization such as ACSM, ACE, ISSA, NCSF, NASM, NSCA or AFAA
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Strong knowledge of exercise technique, physiology and body mechanics
- Ability to confidently lead and motivate groups
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Desire and ability to coach members of all fitness levels
- 1+ years of group fitness or personal training experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in an exercise-related field preferred
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 80 lbs

Orangetheory is a science-based, full-body workout that uses technology to measure performance so members can prove they are improving. In a 60-minute class, led by a highly trained and certified coach, members target at least twelve minutes in the Orange Zone to raise their heart rate and charge up metabolism. The result is an increase in calorie burn post-workout, backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). After twelve minutes of hard work in the Orange Zone, your body burns additional calories as you recover over the next 24 hours.
